Mac users: seeing "app is damaged" or "can't be verified"?

macOS blocks apps from independent developers by default. To open Contract Aegis:

  1. Move Contract Aegis to your Applications folder
  2. Open Terminal (search "Terminal" in Spotlight)
  3. Paste this command and press Enter:
xattr -cr /Applications/Contract\ Aegis.app

Then open the app normally. You only need to do this once.

Step 01

Upload Your Contract

Drop in a PDF or paste contract text. Contract Aegis accepts any freelance contract, SOW, or service agreement up to 80,000 characters.

Gemini AI reads the full contract and flags deal-killer clauses across key risk categories — Scope Creep, Cashflow Risk, IP Ownership, Non-Compete, and more.

Step 03

Review & Understand with AI

Each flagged clause comes with a plain-English explanation of the risk and why it matters. Pro users also receive AI-suggested revisions. Ask the AI follow-up questions in chat.

HIGH Scope Creep
"Client may request unlimited revisions at no additional cost..."
This clause exposes you to unbounded work without extra pay. A fair contract limits revision rounds.
Suggested Revision
"Revisions are limited to 2 rounds. Additional rounds billed at $75/hr."
Step 04

Preview Your Analysis Report

After analysis, a professionally formatted PDF report appears right in the app — flagged clauses, risk scores, and explanations clearly laid out. Pro reports also include AI-suggested revisions for every flagged clause.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Contract Aegis.

How does Contract Aegis detect risky clauses?
Contract Aegis sends your contract text to Google's Gemini AI with a detailed legal analysis prompt. Free users are analyzed by Gemini 2.5 Flash — a lighter, faster model that provides a solid overview but won't catch as many nuances as the paid tiers. Pay As You Go and Pro users get Gemini 2.5 Pro, Google's most capable reasoning model, which delivers significantly deeper and more accurate contract analysis. The AI reads the full document and flags clauses that put the service provider — you — at financial or legal risk. Each flag is classified into a risk category and assigned a severity level of HIGH or MED based on how much exposure you face.
What file formats are supported?
Contract Aegis supports PDF uploads and plain text input. When you upload a PDF, the app extracts and renders the full document with clause highlighting directly in the viewer. You can also paste contract text if you receive it as a Word document or email — just copy and paste into the text input. Contracts up to 80,000 characters are fully supported.
How does the AI analysis work?
Contract Aegis scans your contract and flags potentially risky clauses across multiple risk categories. Each flagged clause includes a plain-English explanation and a risk score. Free users get 3 analyses with Gemini 2.5 Flash — a lighter model that gives you a basic overview but won't perform at the same level as the paid tiers. Pay As You Go ($3.99/analysis) uses Gemini 2.5 Pro for deeper, more accurate analysis plus AI-suggested revisions for every flagged clause. Pro subscribers ($19.95/mo) get 15 analyses per month with Gemini 2.5 Pro, plus AI chat, AI-suggested revisions, missing protections detection, and all advanced features.
Is my contract data kept private?
Contract Aegis runs entirely on your local machine. Your contract files and analysis results are stored locally in your app's data directory — never uploaded to our servers. The only external communication is the contract text sent to Google's Gemini API for AI analysis, which is governed by Google's API privacy policy. You can use your own Gemini API key for full control.
What risk categories does it scan for?
Contract Aegis scans for key risk categories including: Scope Creep (unlimited revisions or vague deliverables), Cashflow Risk (Net 60+ payment, clawbacks, retroactive pricing), IP Ownership (loss of background or pre-existing IP), Non-Compete (restrictions on working in your industry), Termination (cancellation without payment for completed work), Liability Trap (uncapped exposure or one-sided indemnification), Auto-Renewal Trap (silent renewal or steep exit penalties), and Exclusivity (forced exclusive dealing or MFN pricing). The AI will also flag any other suspicious or unfavorable clauses it identifies.
What's the difference between Pay As You Go and Pro?
Pay As You Go ($3.99/analysis) gives you the same Gemini 2.5 Pro analysis engine as Pro — full risk scoring, flagged clauses, plain-English explanations, and AI-suggested revisions for every flagged clause — but for a single contract with no subscription. Pro ($19.95/mo) gives you 15 analyses per month plus all advanced features: unlimited AI chat, missing protections detection, pushback email generation, PDF reports, scan history, and custom review guidelines.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes, absolutely. There are no lock-in contracts. You can cancel your Pro subscription at any time from your account settings and you'll retain access until the end of your billing period. Your account will then revert to the Free plan. Pay As You Go purchases are one-time and non-recurring. Your local analysis history is always yours — it stays on your machine regardless of plan.
